Formed in the summer of 2005, during one of the most intense and
destructive hurricane seasons in South Florida, founding members and
partners in crime Jean Saiz and Janette Valentine started developing
the dark, moody and heavy sound that would later become The Righteous
Devices. They applied themselves to songwriting, focusing on themes of
mysticism, betrayal and revenge while playing with different musicians
and further developing their technique and unique sound.
Upon meeting drummer Alexandra Osuna (Grasspatch, The Remedy Session), the three
converged as The Righteous Devices.
The addition of Alex's intense and
relentless drumming took the band to new levels of precision and
further broadened the scope of their musical attack. Describing their
music as "Garage-Prog" - a combination of dirty, hard rock with a
technical groove-heavy flow, they established themselves as a
formidable, tight knit group of female musicians.
The past year brought them a vocalist, numerous shows and the
completion of a 4 song EP entitled the "Tenets of Vengeance". However,
shortly prior to finalizing their EP, it was decided that a new
vocalist was needed in order to continue their ambitious and
unyielding progression forward.
In just under a year The Righteous Devices have opened for national
acts spanning the musical spectrum: The Birthday Massacre, The Start,
Theo & The Skyscrapers, Torche, The Static Age, Scott H. Biram, Exene Cervenka & the
Original Sinners, and Knuckel Drager.
With a suffocating low end, thunderous, earth-shattering beats
propelling dissonant overdriven fuzz assaults through a sonic blender,
The Righteous Devices are poised to spearhead music out of it's
stagnant slumber. |
